Invar two-horned steel figure eight

Invar double-horned steel figure eight

The lowering device "Increased double-horned steel figure eight" allows you to work on a double rope. Alternatively etching one of them - descend with a zigzag pendulum. To fix the descent device on the rope, the lower end of the rope must be wrapped around the horns. The enlarged working ring allows you to pass any rope knot through the descent device. This quality can be useful when building ropes (for example, during rescue work in mountaineering or work on high objects in pro-alpinism).  The principle of operation of the descent device "Eight" is based on the use of the friction force that is created when the working rope moves around the body of the descent device during execution. The one who descends controls (and regulates) the speed of descent by braking the lower end of the rope with the supporting hand on one side, and by increasing or decreasing the angle of the descent device with the lower end of the rope.

The classic use of the device is when the working rope is wrapped around the neck of the figure eight. The option of loading with the rope wrapping around the carabiner bracket dramatically reduces the friction force.

WARNING! During the descent, releasing the lower end of the rope with your hand or leaving it unfixed is PROHIBITED!

Made by milling from a steel sheet 10 mm thick. Strength and performance characteristics meet the requirements of the standard DSTU EN 341:2006 "Personal protective equipment against falls from a height. Descending devices".
